The 2006 Chevrolet Silverado is actually fitted with two different blend door actuators; one is located on the driver's side, and one is located on the passenger's side. From time to time, these are known to fail, usually because of a failure of the internal plastic gears. The driver's side actuator is simple to access; You'll need to remove the IP instrument panel, loosen the actuator mounting screws, and remove it. To access the passenger side actuator, You'll need to remove the dashboard cover, remove the upper dash mounting bolts, remove the vent register, remove the dashboard brackets, remove the passenger's side airbag, and finally gain access to the actuator. Due to the involved nature of this process, most drivers will opt to have this done by a professional; there's a lot of potential for things to go wrong.
