The 2006 Chevy Silverado EGR valve is located adjAccent to the engine oil cap. EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. What this does is allow a small percentage of gas from the exhaust to go back into the intake manifold. Its purpose is to lower the car's emissions. If there are problems with the valve You will notice things such as a rough idle, higher emissions, mIS Firing, and poor acceleration. Performing a replacement is said to be an easy process costing around $80 to $200 vs spending nearly twice as much for a professional. You would only need the new valve and gasket, ratchet, extension, and a 10mm socket. After removing the two bolts You can lift the old EGR and disconnect it. Install the gasket and new EGR then tighten the bolts first doing so by hand. Re-attach the connector and You're done.

There are no EGR on Chevy engines after the year 2000 as far as I know. 1998 to 2000 they put them on all Chevy LS engines except for the Corvette and even on the strict California codes, the Chevy no longer needs nor uses an EGR. As far as I understand it anyways.

Just where is the egr valve on a 2006 chev Silverado. I can't find it so many people tell you where it is but no videos showing and the part stores don't even have them in inventory, so I'm gonna go with Dan Gordon on this one. Collx says the egr is my problem, and I do have the issues of a bad egr . Grrr !
