The transmission control module on a 2006 Ford Fusion is located on the rear of the transmission beneath the cover that is on the back of it. This module has the job of controlling all the electronic inputs and changing the gears when the computer tells it to. If You notice that Your vehicle is shifting roughly and holding gears for too long it could be a problem with the control module. It works in conjunction with the vehicle's ECU to make sure that everything shifts well and at the right time for the RPMs. The transmission control module also has a fuse that goes to it and that should be the first thing to inspect when it is not working right.

The transmission control module in a 2006 ford fusion is in the e-box located in the plenum chamber at the back of the transmission case beneath the end cover.
