The 2006 Honda CR-V fault code listed as P1009 means that there is a variable valve timing control advance malfunction. Some of the issues that could cause this code to be indicated on the OBD scanner is low oil levels or d***y oil, faulty VTC solenoid or actuator. Sometimes You can remove the the VTC and clean it and it will fix the problem. There is no real way of knowing this may be a problem as there is not any symptoms other than a check engine light which You can then use a diagnostic scanner to pinpoint the issue. To replace the part the price will vary from $30 - $85 depending on the quality and if its an aftermarket or OEM product.
