There are two camshaft position sensors in the 2006 Lexus IS250. One is located on the driver side of the engine below the plastic engine shroud near the oil fill cap. It has a small wire loom running to it and is held on by one 10 mm bolt. The second is located on the other engine bank in roughly the same position. These two sensors help the ECM make sure the engine is running in time and efficiently. Some of the symptoms You can experience when one of these sensors goes bad are, rough idling or starting, no starting, or possibly a complete shutdown of the engine while driving. The sensors are usually pretty cheap and relatively easy to change.
