The blend door actuator is typically located closer to the heater core and evaporator than the mode door. The blend door actuator is responsible for detecting the changes You make on the climate control system and relaying those signals to the correct locations. This includes things like moving the temperature up or down or adjusting how much airflow You want to come from the vents. If the sensor is not working then the climate control system will fail in different ways. It may not change from hot to cold, or the vents may not produce more or less air. It may also simply fail to do anything. In any event, changing the sensor will cost about 300 dollars in total if You have it done at a shop.
