The 2007 Ford Fusion has a shift solenoid that can be found attached to the valve body. It is on the inner part of the oil pan, near the transmission. A faulty solenoid will produce a myriad of symptoms, including delays in shifting gears, and an inability to shift downwards. It also may cause engine surging while You are using the brake pedal. You may notice Your shifter is becoming stuck in the neutral position, or it is difficult and grinding. If the solenoid needs to be replaced, You can expect to pay between $38 and $87 for parts alone. If You pay a mechanic to do it, You can pay up to an additional $58 to $147 for labor.
