The 2007 Nissan Frontier'S5-speed automatic transmission features a turbine revolution sensor located on the input side of the tranny behind the bellhousing on the driver's side of the bay. The TRS is responsible for optimizing shift timing in the Frontier along with the vehicle's speed or "A/T" sensor, located on the output side of the automatic transmission. The turbine sensor detects revolutions per minute and the A/T monitors output shaft rpms and together they ensure the proper movement of the Frontier's gears and shift timing. If one or both have gone bad, You will experience an illuminated "check engine" light, harsh or hard shifting, an inability to use the cruise control and speedometer malfunction. The cost to replace the TRS averages between $400-$600 in parts an labor.
