The 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid uses SAE 0W-20 oil in the engine. Toyota recommends using synthetic oil whenever You need to change it in Your vehicle as well. Synthetic oil is a newer type of oil that is designed to give You greater wear protection and longer life than conventional oil. This means with the synthetic option You will need to change it every 7,500 miles compared to 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. It is a good idea to check Your oil at least once a month. During this check You will want to make sure that Your oil is filled properly and free from any debris. Also if Your oil is extremely dark then it is time to replace it.
