For the 3.0 L 6-cylinder engine available in the 2008 BMW 128i, BMW has accepted either 5w30 or 5w40 synthetic oil and the engine has an oil capacity of 6.5 liters or 6.9 quarts. When selecting oil for the car, make sure that it is the correct kind, but also search for the APiApproval seal when selecting oil for the engine, as this will let You know that the oil is approved for use on all BMW vehicles. You can use different forms of oil when replacing the oil, but note that before replenishing it with other oils, it must be absolutely empty to make sure You never combine them.
