The 2008 Dodge Avenger coolant temperature sensor is at the rear of the head on the left side of the engine. This sensor is to make sure that the engine is running at the correct temperature and to direct the amount of coolant that needs to be used. If it is not working then the car is very likely to overheat. Do not let this happen if You can avoid it. Overheating warps the head gasket, which leads to more overheating, which in turn will eventually crack the head gasket. This is a multi-thousand dollar fixAnd takes days to do Yourself. The sensor is only 20 or 30 dollars to replace, so if it is not working then make sure You get it fixed right away.
