The 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 has A6.1 L V8 engine that needs 0W-40 Synthetic Motor Oil in all temperatures. The difference between synthetic and conventional is that synthetic is man made with chemical compounds and contains fewer contaminants than conventional. The capacity for the vehicle iS7 quarts with a filter and the torque for the drain plug is 20 ft/lbs. It is important to use oil because it helps to keep the engine clean and running smoothly. However oil doesn't last forever and it needs to be changed every so often. For the Cherokee You should change the oil and the filter every 6,000 miles or every 6 months, whichever comes first. You should be notified that You need to change it from the oil life indicator.
