The 2008 Subaru Tribeca is equipped with two camshaft position sensors. The CPS are found inside the valve cover on the top back corners of the engine. One is positioned on the driver's side and one is installed on the passenger's. Over time, they can become damaged or malfunction due to condensation build-up, especially if a vehicle is not driven regularly. The amount of fuel and air needed to create combustion and spark in the engine is determined by data collected by the sensor. If this information is faulty, driving will become impaired. You may notice a drop in mpg, rough idling, stalling, "stumbling" or slow acceleration and illuminated warning lights. To replace one of the Tribeca's CPS can cost between $230-$250 in parts and labor.

The crank position sensor is straight down and slightly towards the back from the oil filter tube. It is clearly on the side of the engine towards the bottom of the engine. To be very clear, it looks almost like the cam sensor. The passenger side except the bolt is on the side. Instead of straightforward from the connecting plug, you will see it. When you look straight down one bolt it's out very tight spot
