The 2008 Toyota Tacoma is going to use 4.2 quarts of rear differential oil. You should check this every 15,000 miles, or 18 months, to make sure it's not become too d***y to properly lubricate. You'll want to replace with Toyota Genuine Differential gear oil LT 75W-85 GL-5 or equivalent. Some folks swear the best thing to put in here is actually Mobile-1'S75W-90 or 75W-140, which has a limited slip additive already added, but other folks absolutely swear by K&W's TransX Posi-Trac Limited Slip Gear Oil Additive. You can pick this up from Amazon, and not have to deal with chattering, jerking or slipping issues; worth every penny!
