The 2008 VW Beetle takes sae 5w-40 synthetic motor oil. Volkswagen recommends getting Your Beetle's oil & filter changed every 3,000-5,000 miles. You can change the oil Yourself, just remember when You change the oil to also change out the oil filter with a new one. There are also several places like the Volkswagon dealership as well as Jiffy Lube and Firestone Auto Care that do oil changes as well. If the oil isn't changed, Your vehicle's engine will start to have a lot of problems. It can cause the engine components to warp and then wear out. Over time the oil will become thinner, abrasive, and will start to wear down on vital engine parts.
