The 2009 Chevy Malibu uses a power steering pump to circulate lubricants in and around gears and pistons to help You move the wheels with ease. It's important to never let these fluid levels drop to prevent damage to the pump and Your steering hydraulics. The Malibu can use any synthetic multi-vehicle PS fluid in the pump designed for American vehicles. The PS reservoir can be found under the hood in the engine bay. It is located on the passenger side of the vehicle next to the firewall. A long plastic cylinder holds the PS fluid in between the coolant reservoir and window washer reservoir. The container is usually marked by symbols or lettering to identify it. If the steering needs attention You will notice whining or high pitched noises when turning the wheel.
