The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve is located on the intake manifold of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. It works by recirculating a portion of the combustion gases back into the combustion chamber to reduce the combustion temperature. In most cases, it is electrically operated. You can temporarily drive Your car with a bad EGR valve to the shop, unless the fault is so severe that it causes a rattling noise inside the engine. In such a case, it is advisable to get it towed there. Replacement of the Egr valve is one of the less common repairs and will cost You about $220 to $250. The price depends on where You get it done.
