The 2009 Mercedes E350 uses SAE 5W-30 oil. Mercedes recommends that You use fully synthetic oil whenever You need to change it. There are two types of oil that are on the market these days, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is engineered in a lab to give You better wear protection and longer life compared to the petroleum based conventional option. This means that You will need to change Your oil every 7,500 miles with synthetic compared to 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. You should check Your oil at least once a month. You will want to make sure that Your oil is full and it is free from signs of debris that could indicate problems in Your engine.
