The 2009 MINI Cooper Clubman takes 4.2 liters (4.4 quarts) of SAE 5W-40 synthetic motor oil. This fluid is a bit thicker than more popular varieties, such aS5W-20 and 5W-30. This means that it lubricates a bit more thoroughly at hotter temperatures. MINI recommends replacing the oil in the Clubman every 4,000 to 6,000 miles. Your exact maintenance interval will be based on Your unique driving habits. For example, if You have a long daily commute that You make at low speeds, You might need it replaced more frequently. Oil reduces friction, prevents corrosion, and helps keep the engine cool. It also plays a role in performance and fuel economy. If it is permitted to get low or old, it can do its job, which can result in engine damage. The average cost to have this fluid replaced in the 2009 Clubman is $210 to $250. Labor accounts for $110 to $140 of that total.
