The fuel filter in a 2009 Nissan Sentra is on the fuel tank, near the frame rail on the left side. Disconnecting the filter can be done using a medium flat blade screwdriver. Insert the screwdriver into the tabs for the protective cover and turn 45 degrees. This allows You to remove the cover and the filter. Replacing this part on the Sentra averages $50 to $100. Labor accounts for $40 to $60 of that total, so You can save some money, if You handle it Yourself. The fuel filter blocks debris from passing from the fuel tank to the cylinders within the internal combustion chamber. If it becomes damaged or clogged, the engine can't run properly. Symptoms of a failing fuel filter include rough idle, vehicle won't start, acceleration issues at low speeds, mIS Firing, engine hesitation, stalling, strong exhaust odors, whining fuel pump, and problems with the carburetor and injector.
