The 2010 Cadillac CTS gasoline filter is housed inside the fuel pump assembly inside the gas tank. The manufacturer has branded this component as a non-serviceable item, as it is rated to last as long as the vehicle is on the road. Much of the time when You change the fuel filter, the fuel pump will also be removed because it is impossible to detach the component on its own. If You use the correct octane rating of unleaded petrol, the gasoline filter should have no problems, although there could be problems resulting from low gas efficiency. The cost of a new fuel filter varies from $15-$25 and can be bought from most car parts retailers. Takeng it to a mechanic will cost a lot more because it is strenuous labor and the replacement will range from $300 - $500 including parts.

$500? I just paid the dealer $2000 in labor. The entire rear end and driveshaft have to be dropped and moved back to get out the gas tank. Sadly there is no access door above the tank which was a bad cost saving design decision by GM. Check out the videos on YouTube, it’s a horrible intensive job.
