You'll find the starter on Your 2010 Chevrolet Impala located on the driver's side, under Your engine hood, towards the front of the vehicle. It's best to try to access it from underneath, though You'll need to clear out a lot of the hoses and other components there, like the heat shield, to get to it. This might be one of those times when You just bring it to a mechanic. It's not that hard at all to switch out the starter: No special tools or anything required, it's just a real pain. Part wise, You can pick up a Duralast Gold DLG97055, which is a brand new starter, for $195 at AutoZone; if You don't have one local, other car part stores should have something equivalent around that price. You can also pick up remanufactured ones for about $50 less than that.
