The idle air control valve in a 2010 Chevy Silverado is located on the intake manifold at the throttle body. This valve is designed to control the flow of air into Your engine when You are sitting at idle so that it stays running well. If You happen to notice that Your engine runs with a high idle, or stalls when You stop that is usually a sign of a problem with this valve. You will also usually get a check engine light at Your dash if the ECU detects a fault because it will throw a code to let You know that a problem was found. Replacing the idle air control valve is usually about $60 in parts and about $50 in labor so it is not too expensive to replace if it fails.
