The 2010 Hyundai Genesis 2.0 T Camshaft Positioning (Cmp) sensor is mounted on the right side of the engine compartment at the back of the valve cover, near the intake manifold. The sensor is situated are below the valve cover of the cylinder head sealing line on the belt side of the engine. The key function of the CMP is to define the location of the camshaft as it applies to the crankshaft. This data is then sent to the powertrain control module to be used with the fuel injector and the ignition control system to decide the amount of fuELRequired to be injected for combustion and power. Some of the indicators You're looking for if You believe You've got a defective sensor are the engine light on, problems starting the vehicle or no start, and the car jerking or surge forward when accelerating.
