The 2010 MINI Cooper S's 1.6 liter 4Cylinder engine is equipped with 4.4 US quarts of 5W-30 or 5W-40 with a filter. Oil and filter changes should be scheduled every 7,500-10,000 miles or 12 months if using fully synthetic lubricants, or every 3,000-5,000 miles or 6 months, if filling with conventional oil. The advantages of using synthetic vs conventional products include better lubrication among moving parts, a longer interval between service appointments and enhanced effectiveness under adverse weather conditions. A motor oil with a thinner viscosity moves more easily in colder temperatures, coating engine components efficiently and providing better protection against friction and corrosion. Cost for a lube and filter job ranges between $150-$200 in materials and labor.

I hear that a BMW LL01 or LL04 is what is recommended. So something like Motul 5w-30 or 0w-40 that meets LL01 or LL04 specs is what is best. Is that correct?
