When the 2010 Nissan Versa displays the P1421 error code, its a clear indicator that there is an issue with the Powertrain control module, or PCM for short. The error code refers to something called Cold Start Control, which is an internal failure that causes the code to appear. This happens when the Engine Control Module (ECM), which is another name for the PCM, fails to detect or track the engines idle speed, as well as its ignition timings. As a result, a relay chain fails to happen, and the car doesnt start. Getting this fixed will almost always require a trip to a mechanic at the very least. As either the firmware will need to be configured, or the electrical components linking the PCM to the rest of the car will have to be fixed.

The p1421 code is detected when the engine control module (ecm) does not control ignition timing and engine idle speed properly when engine is started with pre-warming up condition.
