The thermostat in Your 2011 Buick Enclave is located in the back right corner of the engine bay. It is in a black plastic coupler that has a rubber coolant hose on one end and the other end is bolted to the engine block. The purpose of a thermostat in a vehicle is to control the amount of coolant that is allowed to pump through the engine block. A thermostat is a simple device that uses a cylinder, usually filled with wax, that as it is heated up by the engine allows a valve to open more and more. The more the valve is open, the more fluid is circulated. As the temperature goes down a spring is used to close off the valve.
