What's the 2012 BMW 528i oil type?

The 2012 BMW 528i uses Synthetic 5W-30 motor oil, and Your car will hold up to 6.1 US quarts. The only approved oils, according to the owners manual are BMW High Performance 5W-30, BMW Longlife-01, and BMW Longlife-01 FE. That said, the manual does say You must use SAE 0W-40, SAE 0W-30, SAE 5W-40, or SAE 5W-30, so there is clearly some wiggle room. BMW recommends that You only have Your oil changed by Your service center. Your car will automatically send messages to Your service center when its time for You to change Your oil or have a required inspection done.
