The 2012 Chevrolet Equinox has a coolant temperature sensor that can be found inside the engine bay of the vehicle. Finding it is somewhat simple, and will only take a few minutes. First, You should go to the front of Your vehicle, and open the hood. Secure it in place using the prop arm found on the passenger side of the engine compartment. Next, look at the area toward the back of the engine block, in the section that separates the hoses that go to Your heater core. There, You should see the coolant temperature sensor. If it has gone bad, it should be replaced. This will cost You between $23 and $58 for a new part.
