The 2012 Chevy Equinox starter will be placed above the oil filter and next to the A/C compressor below the driver side of the cylinder. The starter is a little challenging to get to and detach the component, and You're going to have to get under the car where the transmission meets the engine block. Ensure that You detach the starter wires. You will find the nuts behind the plastic air vent just below the turbo to release the heater tubing. The cost of the replacement starter will range from $65 to $120 depending on whether it is an OEM or aftermarket item.

Both of these people are wrong it’s closer to the bottom of the engine about dead middle below the oil filter
