The purge valve on a 2012 Chevy Impala can be found in the engine compartment at the back of the valve cover with a rubber hose that runs to it. This is the valve that is designed to allow gases from Your vehicle's crankcase and exhaust to flow back into the engine to be burnt again before they are expelled safely from the vehicle's exhaust. If Your purge valve starts to fail on Your car You will usually get a check engine light to let You know that there is a problem. Usually You will also notice that Your car idles very rough when the valve is failing because it is not getting the right amount of air and fuel in the engine.
