For Your 2012 Toyota Prius You can use FMVSS No.116 DOT 3 or SAE J1703 brake fluid. These are the recommended fluids according to the manual but if You have difficulty finding either of these You'll be fine picking up any DOT 3 brake fluid from one of the major brands. If You want to check out Your brake fluid levels You need to pop the hood and locate the reservoir. It's up towards the top of the engine near the windshield on the driver side of the vehicle and the cap should specify which type of brake fluid You need. Just make sure that Your fluid is not below the MINImum marker and if it is put some more in until You hit the maxBut don't go over that. -
