The 2014 Chevy Silverado uses DOT 3 brake fluid for the braking system. This is an older type of fluid, but it should still be able to be found easily at most of the auto parts stores around the country. DOT 3 fluid is a type of hydraulic fluid that moves from the master cylinder through the lines out to the calipers and makes the pistons close on those. This allows the brakes to work. I suggest that You check Your brake fluid every time that You change the oil in Your truck. If You notice that it is low then I suggest You check all the lines and fittings to make sure that there are no obvious leaks.
