The sensor is situated are below the timing chain cover in front of the cylinder head . The key function of the CMP is to define the location of the camshaft as it applies to the crankshaft. Some of the indicators You're looking for if You believe You've got a defective sensor are the engine light on, problems starting the vehicle or no start, and the car jerking or surge forward when accelerating. If the CMP is bad the cost for a replacement will range from $25 - $75 depending on if its an OEM or aftermarket part.
