The transmission in a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 uses fully synthetic Dexron ViAutomatic transmission fluid and has a capacity of around 6 quarts to fill the transmission. The factory service recommendations say that a transmission service should be performed at 30,000, 50,000 and then again at 80,000 miles. When performing the service You will need to use roughly 12 quarts of Dexron to properly drain and flush the entire system since You will need to fill and empty it multiple times to get all the old fluid out. You will also need a replacement transmission filter which can be purchased at the smart place You get the fluid.
