The 2015 Subaru Forester uses A3volt lithium CR1620 battery for its key fob. While this is the same voltage as a CR2032, which is the type You more commonly find, the CR1620 is 16mm in diameter and 2.0mm thick, vs the former, which is 20mm in diameter and 3.2mm thick. This makes it so they're not interchangeable: while You can wedge the CR2032 in, the different in thickness means that You won't get the fob to close all the way. Just ask how I know that... On the other hand, You absolutely can use any CR2032 batteries You've got lying around to test if it actually is the battery that's dead in the fob and not something else. Typically, the batteries will last three to four years before they need to be replaced, and You can snag a small ten pack of these for under five bucks.
