The 2016 BMW 535i uses a synthetic SAE 5W-30 oils in itS3.0L 6-cylinder turbo engine, and has a capacity of 6.9 quarts after You've drained the pan and put in a new filter. The oil drain plug shouldn't be torqued more than 18 pound feet. You can use a Mann-Filter, HU816XEA, for $21.40, if You're more budget minded, though You shouldn't skimp on the oil type: a synthetic is going to work better in Your BMW and allow You longer intervals between when You need to change it. A note on viscosity, but You're free to go to 0W-30 if You live in a colder climate, and up to 10W-40 if You live in a much warmer climate. Brand-wise, BMW started recommending Shell/Pennzoil PurePlus Oils for aftermarket purchase beginning around 2015.
