The fuel filter on a 2016 Ford Expedition is inside the gas tank, which is at the back section of the vehicle on the passenger's side. Ford recommends replacing this part every 60,000 to 70,000 miles. However, if the injectors have been replaced or cleaned, the pump has been replaced, or any work has been completed on the gas tank, the filter should be replaced at that time, as well. An old or bad fuel filter can limit the amount of fuel transferred to the engine. This prevents the engine from running at all. A few common symptoms include sputtering while accelerating or heading up a hill and the engine may be hard to start or won't start at all. The average cost to replace the fuel filter in the 2016 Expedition is $90 to $130, including labor.
