The 2016 Mercedes GLE 350 uses SAE 5W-30 oil in the engine. Mercedes recommends that You replace Your oil with synthetic oil whenever You need to change it. There are two types of oil that are on the market these days, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is engineered to give You greater wear protection and longer life than the older conventional option. This means You will need to change synthetic every 7,500 miles compared to 3,500 to 5,000 miles for conventional. I recommend checking Your oil at least once a month. During this routine check You will want to make sure that it is full and free from debris. If Your oil is extremely dark then that may be a sign that it is time to replace it too.
