On BMW vehicles, code P2745 indicates a malfunction in intermediate shaft speed sensor B circuit. This code is set by the engine control module (ECM), and indicates that the aforementioned component is not working properly. This code is said to be "moderate to severe", so it's recommended that You take a chance to look at it as soon as possible. Accompanied by the code, You may notice hard shifting, erratic engine speed, and overall poor drivability. The most common reason You'll get the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is a defective or damaged intermediate shaft speed sensor itself; less commonly, You'll find an electrical fault (shorting, stripping, etc) in the wires between the speed sensor and the ECM. More often than not, You'll need to replace the intermediate shaft speed sensor to remedy the issue.
