AS the driver of a BMW, You will invariably encounter a variety of codes and lights on Your dash over time. One of these could be fault code 2F44. The presence of this code usually indicates that the CAS module, also known as the immobilizer, is not communicating with the digital motor electronics, or DME. There are a handful of problems that could cause this code to appear. You may have a problem with Your battery. You should pop Your hood and check all connections and wires to Your battery, and make sure it is fully receiving a charge. You also may have ignition key failure. Some signs of this include failure of the vehicle to start, the key refusing to turn in the ignition, stalling, and a lack of any sound coming from the starter.

A 2F44 code is displayed in a BMW when the EWS and DME are no longer communicating, possibly due to battery failure or ignition key failure.
