Chevrolet recommends that You inflate the tires in Your Volt to 36 psi per tire. Keeping Your tires properly inflated is important for three major reasons. The first reason is that tires that are inflated properly will last longer. Tires that are over or under inflated will wear out faster since they will not ride on the road as well as ones that are inflated correctly. The second reason is safety, a tire that is low or high on tire pressure may not brake or accelerate as intended. This can lead to dangerous situations. The third reason is fuel economy. If a tire is too low there is more resistance between the car and the road and that decreases fuel economy.
Tire pressure recommendations for the Volt have been too low from the start. Factory rec pressures have resulted in sidewall failures as well as premature wear. James B is incorrect: 2019 Volt rec is 39, which is still too low. 2016-18 using the same tires was 36, but resulted in excessive low inflation wear. My '17 I ran at 41-42 and tires wore evenly.I run both the '17 and '19 at 41-42.

Why is this the recommended air pressure? We are constantly having to put air in the tire because our sensors keep going off. Just trying to see if they are related.
Recommended pressure 39 to 40. That's too high 35 to 36 pounds makes for a much smoother and quieter ride.
