The Chevy S-10 needs dexcool antifreeze for the coolant system. Chevrolet recommends this because it is designed to work well with the metal that is used in their radiators and cooling system. Do not ever mix different types of coolant in Your vehicle because it can cause corrosion, and can lose the effective cooling power. If Your coolant is low and You need to top it off and are not sure what You have in Your vehicle use distilled water. You will lose some protection from freezing temperatures, but You will not damage anything doing that. I recommend flushing the coolant in Your vehicle every 35,000 miles to help keep it working at its best.

The cutover point is for 1994 and up s10 trucks, but they didn't fully switch over until mid-1995. Anything 94 and up should use the orange Dexcool antifreeze, anything prior to that uses the green. If you have green and choose to switch to Dexcool, make sure you flush COMPLETELY first.
