A Chevy Spark will have a lower than average life expectancy with it ranging between 150,000 to 200,000 miles. To get to the upper end of this range You will need to give Your vehicle regular maintenance and care. The motor oil will need to be changed every 7,500 miles and the transmission fluid every 60,000. If You purchase this vehicle new from the dealership You should get an extended warranty which will allow You to take it in for regularly scheduled maintenance at no extra cost. Many owners prefer doing this because the dealership will send reminders when it is time to come in for a check up.

Our Chevy Sparkis currently at 215,000 miles and going strong. It has had no major issues and would buy another one.

The oil should be dexos compatible 0W20 or 5W20 motor oil. However, in Saudi Arabia it is recommended to use Dexos 5w30 engine oil. I assume the slightly heavier oil protects better in extreme heat so in southern or southwestern parts of the US or summer city driving the heavier oil may be appropriate. However, in cold winter driving the 0w20 oil will protect the engine better. No matter what oil you use, replace the filter with every oil change. Change the oil every 7500 miles (12,000 km).. I suggest using only full synthetic oil..it really is better. Also use the best name brand oil you can afford. Engines are expensive..any oil is very inexpensive in comparison..so don't be cheap..you will only cheat yourself. If you abuse or use your car hard or drive in harsh conditions only drive it 3500 miles (6000 km) between oil changes.. I was a professional mechanic and racer for a long time. I have never had an engine failure on a personal car..and I usually sell them at 250k to 300k because the body and accessories wear out..the engines are still strong..
