The Subaru Forester can accept A-ClasS3 tow hitch with a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds and a tongue weight of 500 pounds. Cost to install depends on hitch chosen and local labor pricing. On average A-ClasS3 hitch costs between $350-$400. Installation can range from $50-$100, and should be attempted by a professional. The proceSSRequires lowering the Forester's exhaust and trimming the heat shield. If approaching the installation as a DIY project, however, You will need, among other tools, 10mm and 19mm sockets, an 8" extension, power drill equipped with a 17/32" drill bit and a torque wrench. When completed, the Forester should be able to comfortably tow a small trailer.

My 2017 Forester Touring is currently in Sherman Oaks CA Dealership having a complete OEM Tow Hitch package installed, including electrical wiring. NORMAL cost, parts & labor, is over $800. Recently was "on sale" for $300 + $300 (parts +labor). On 11/10/2020, I received an email with their "Thanksgiving" specials. One of the specials is Tow Hitch for $300 + $100. This is the best I have ever found for OEM at a Dealership!!
