The Doge Ram 2500 uses SAE 15W-40 motor oil. Dodge also recommends that You use synthetic oil any time that You have to change it. There are two main varieties of oil that are on the market these days, synthetic and conventional. Conventional oil is thE-Classic type that is made from petroleum. Synthetic is a newer technology that is engineered to give You better wear protection and longer life out of the oil. This means that You can change synthetic oil every 7,500 miles compared to 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. Always make sure to check Your oil at least once a month to make sure that it is free from debris or signs of damage.

Pennzoil ultra platinum 0w-40 is the only oil for the 6.4L gas engine. The lubrication specification number is in the owners manual, and this is the only oil that has it listed on the label. Label will also have SRT on it. Amsoil oil is the only other manufacture at this time that offers it as well. The spec number is MS-12633. If that number isn't listed on the label, it's not for your HEMI.

You should not be telling ppl to put 15w40 in the new 6.4 especially bc the oil gland is so little and those will likely clog up if running thicker tanything other than 0w40

I bought the 2500 6.7brand new and I read the manual it said on temperatures above 0F they recommends 10w-30 & in temperatures below 0F they recommends 5w-40 synthetic I will said for both oils use synthetic…

The best to use is Shell Rotella 15W40 I use in my Dodge desiel 5.9 it is better than any I other desiel oil I have used in the past.

Different sized engines, different years, gas or diesel? I think it's best to ignore any comment and look for the Owners manual for your exact year/engine. That's where I'm going.

My 2021 ram diesel just git back from the dealer oil change. They use 10w30 rotella. Not sure if it's synthetic or not.
