Dtc b1317 can be stored in the memory of the module due to past battery charging or vehicle jump start events. If the DSM senses an input voltage over 15 volts, it retains dtc b1317 in memory. Another common cause for this code is a failing alternator. There is a known problem with the alternators. An alternator is the car battery's charging system. It supplies electrical power for things like the ignition, radio, air conditioning, power windows, and other electrical systems in Your automobile. A voltage regulator monitors the car battery's charge and tells the alternator when to supply battery power.

DTC B1317 can be stored in the memory of the module due to past battery charging or vehicle jump start events. If the DSM senses an input voltage over 15 volts, it retains DTC B1317 in memory. If DTC B1317 is set, the DSM deactivates the outputs of the memory system for the driver's seat memory operation.
