If You receive a U0418 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) from Your Ford, it's indicating that there was Invalid Data Received From Brake System Control Module. As You're likely aware, the engine control module is constantly receiving data from the various modules, like the powertrain and here, the brakes. This error is stating that there was a discrepancy in the information it received and what it expected from the BSCM. Typical causes here is that there's an actual fault with the BSCM, or there's an open or shorted wire harness, or the circuit has a poor electrical connection. Your first course, therefore, should be to visually inspect the wires to see if there are any obvious breaks or evidence they're otherwise compromised.

I took my car to Windward Ford in Kailua,Oahu Hawaii and they couldn’t diagnose the problem and charged me $219.00 for something they couldn’t diagnose Then I took it to an Auto Repair shop and they diagnosed it in 30 minutes or less and didn’t charge me a penny for diagnosing it. And the owner of the Auto Repair told me take it back to the dealer to repair it Windward Ford wanted another $219.00 to diagnose it again and I said no way so they had my car all day and they wanted to keep it overnight and I said no way I’ll take my car and go else where I called Honolulu Ford after Windward Ford said we will sell you a new car Honolulu Ford wanted to charge me a diagnoses charge about $219.00 I said forget it I already gave you the code UO418 it’s already been diagnosed. I was told come in we will sell you a new car almost since June 2023 my car is not repaired a2015 Ford Explorer Limited I only use it to go to my Church 3 to 4 minutes away once sometimes twice a week I love Fords but I will be 80 years old in April and don’t really want a new car how ever if I do buy a new Ford I was told by my nephew who is a general manager for a dealership in Ca where there is a Ford dealership in Honolulu where they are really fair in their dealings How ever I prefer repairing my vehicle my question is can only a dealership repair this problem or are there Auto repair shops other than a dealership fix it Thank you
