There are several crash sensors in a Ford Fiesta. One sensor is located behind the front bumper in the middle of the vehicle and there are one on each side between the doors. When these sensors detect an impact it sends a signal to the airbag system and depending on which sensor is activated will deploy either the front or side airbags. These sensors are critical to the safety of the occupants inside the vehicle and if they are faulty could cause the airbags to not inflate during a crash. Before attempting to change any of these sensors You all need to disconnect the negative battery terminal and leave the car sit with it disconnected for at least an hour to drain any potential electricity from the system. If You don't do this there's a high likelihood that You could cause the airbags to deploy when working around them.
