The maintenance code b17 for the Honda CR-V means different things, each letter and number means something else. B means to change the engine oil and oil filter, inspect front and rear brakes, check parking brake, inspect tie rod ends, steering gearbox, and boots, suspension components, driveshaft boots and all fluid levels and do a battery test and multi-point inspection. The number 1 means that You need to rotate the tires and the 7 means You need to replace the brake fluid. It is important to keep up with maintenance in the vehicle or the vehicle might not last as long as it should. The most important thing out of all the maintenance is to keep up with oil change because it helps to keep the engine clean. The code is useful so You don't have to automatically remember certain miles for every little thing.

Car only has 5,200 miles and this the second time this Code has came up. I've had my old CRV for 217,000 miles and have never had to take it in for new brake fluid and the $150.00 charge. Is this just another way that Honda has to rip ya off or what? Not so sure about keeping this CRV if they keep doing this. Feeling Had and in not a good way !

The Honda CR v maintenance code b17 Means to replace engine oil and oil filter. Rotate tires, and check tire pressure and condition and replace the brake fluid.

My car made a low tick, tick, tick noise for awhile then the B17 came on. Any idea which of all these options is the problem??

We just had oil change and tires rotated and has B17 code go on at 44,000 miles. Wouldn’t think replacing brake fluid is necessary unless replacing brakes.

Has anyone ever had an oil pan gasket go bad on their new Honda?

Brake fluid needs to be replaced periodically. It tends to attract moisture and if you don't replace it, brake parts, especially calipers could rust and bind, in extreme cases the master cylinder could go bad.
